Contemporary band compositions, classical music arrangements, marches, jazz, symphonies, overtures. A collection from bands that I have played in throughout hi
Hello and welcome! "Symphonic Band Performances" is a compilation of recordings from several high school and college bands that I played in including the TMEA (Texas) All State Band, the TMEA Region X All Region Band, the Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp, the Cal Poly Tech Band, San Luis Obispo, the USAF Golden West Band, and recordings from my h.s. band, Beaumont H.S. and a few band recordings that were passed down to me. Also included are various All State groups and college and university bands. I participated and played in the large majority of these recordings. There are no professional recordings here and every recording is Public Domain. Most are available for free download. Each song has been converted from the original analog or digital source and edited with Audacity or Dak software. In the majority of these recordings, I play the tenor sax or alto sax, b flat or e flat clarinet, or directing. I was drum major for 2 years in high school, I have a BA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I studied music ed, composition and theory. I had about 500 more recordings I was planning to digitize and upload, but this past Nov. 20th, my home was completely destroyed by fire, and all the contents, including all my music and instruments. So, this is it. Please feel free to post a comment here or on my member page. If you like, please become a fan by clicking "I'm a fan" below.

Story behind the song
This is performed by the Langham Creek High School Symphonic Band in February 2007 at the annual TMEA Convention in San Antonio, Texas. The LCHS Band was selected as the 2007 TMEA State Class 5A Honor Band and this is the beginning piece from their honor band concert. The directors for LCHS were Scott McAdow, now retired, and Gloria Ramirez, the current director. LCHS is located in the Cypress-Fairbanks School District where I live in Cypress, Texas, and where my three boys attend CFISD schools. Joyeuse Marche is a popular orchestra piece by the French composer Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-1894). It is the second half of a pair of orchestral pieces Prelude pastoral and Joyeuse marche first performed on 4 November 1888 in Angers, conducted by the composer. The Joyeuse Marche is dedicated to Vincent d'Indy, French composer and teacher. The march went through several versions before arriving at the popular orchestral version known today. In September 1888 Chabrier wrote to his publisher that he would be orchestrating six piano pieces: what would become his Suite pastorale, and La Marche francaise and the Andante in F. Delage proposes that the Andante was originally performed in 1875 at the Cercle de l Union artistique, with Jules Danba conducting his orchestra. However, the pieces are also related to Chabrier's Pralude et Marche francaise for piano 4-hands, completed by May 1885, the Andante having by then become a Prelude. By the time of the Paris premiere in April 1889, the title had changed to Marche Joyeuse. The piece was again enthusiastically received. The final version of the works' titles was reached at a Lamoureux concert on 16 February 1890, when the march became the Joyeuse Marche. However, the prelude then disappeared until it surfaced among autographs belonging to Robert Brussel in 1943. The Joyeuse Marche became particularly popular, and was also played in a piano duet version.
