Story behind the song
I traced my Dad finally at the age of 50...he was shocked that I turned out to be a Chelsea FC football fan when all of my family were lifelong Fulham FC fans....
Lyrics
My Dad Supports Fulham © 2009 Murray Webster
Verse 1
Talking to my old man after such a long, long time
I was just a baby when he last was by my side
I sent him a photo wearing a shirt of the brightest blue
With the West Stand, Stamford Bridge, in full view
PreChorus
He took one look and said "It's lucky, son
That I didn't die of shame"
Chorus
My Dad Supports Fulham
He only sees in black and white
But I love the colours of Chelsea
I'm so glad he wasn't there to put me right
Verse 2
His father played at The Cottage he says he's very proud
The nephew that I've never met shouts their name out loud
PreChorus
He said "There's no doubt that your ancestors
Will be spinning in their graves"
Chorus
My Dad Supports Fulham
He only sees in black and white
But I love the colours of Chelsea
I'm so glad he wasn't there to put me right
Bridge
From the things I've been told by my father
There's many colours we both share
But if I'd been forced to wear black and white
That would be such a hard cross to bear
Chorus x 2
My Dad Supports Fulham
He only sees in black and white
But I love the colours of Chelsea
I'm so glad he wasn't there to put me right
