So I'm lonely, can't win em all.
Singer/songwriter, Acoustic guitar, electric fills, little saxophone, I do them all
Story behind the song
Remember that night we were drunk and I was sad and I was writing in the hall outside my dorm room? Well that's where the outro comes from.
This song uses the same chord shape throughout the whole song, it just moves a few times, sometimes having the bass note stray away from the original shape. And put that damn pick down!
Written in December 2003, first song that I recorded on the album.
Remind me not to listen to or play this song when I'm in a good mood because it won't work.
Lyrics
Hold on I’m cold
Without you now
Without you now
See my lonely eyes
Look away, look away they
Hate the truth
So they look away
It’s better when you look away
Won’t you light me up on a better day and say,
“It’s you I wanted all along
And no it’s not all wrong
Lay down with me and I’ll tell you no more lies
Just watch me with those lonely eyes”
Wake up
I’m there, without you now
Without you now
It’s you in my dreams that I see now
The one that I don’t want to see now
And when I wake up you’re gone and it hurts
Wonder if she ever felt that way
It’s you who has caused me to die inside
It’s you that makes me live this lie
And where do you think I got my lonely eyes?
Won’t you light me up on a better day and say,
“It was all a game, and you won
You beat the other one
Lay down with me and I’ll tell you no more lies
Just watch me with those lonely eyes”
Sitting in between two puddles of nothing
Nothing occurs when you are something
Something is what I did not and now do
I do it to forget about you
The things you say hurt me in ways that you’ll never know
So I do something to forget about you and then you go
