Lyrics
V1 My agent had convinced me it was worth the effort, that a Label I had pitched long ago Was offering auditions to represented artists, and he could get a spot in the show. We were really amazed when they called right back. They told him I was one of a kind. They'd been looking all over for that "special sound." My media had blown their mind. V2 The A&R people said that some of them recalled me when they saw me all those years ago, That I had to be twice as good by now, and I was bound to do a helluva show. They told my agent they were holding my demo. Could I come around next week? I'd been pushing forever just to get to this point. Right now, I could barely speak. (But...) Ch I'm ready to rock, so bring it on. I'll do whatever you say. I'll be on time, feeling fine, and always be ready to play. I won't disappoint one, single fan, be worth every penny they pay. I'll give them a show they will always remember. I'm gonna make their day. V3 The audition went great, so I went to the close. "Sign me today? They said, "Yes!" They said that I possessed every skill I would need to be a big commercial success. I had energy, drive, that I could sing and play, and they knew I'd never quit, That I'd been working a lifetime to make it here. They were confident I'd be a hit! (YeeHAW!!!) Break V4 They handed me some papers that were for my attorney, said be back tomorrow at ten. Don't party all night, because we need you in voice, and we'd like to get started right then. Wasn't sure what had hit me, but I didn't mind, 'cause I never felt this great! I'd be singin' my songs for millions of people, and that was surely worth my wait. (Well...) Chorus Break V5 One year later, we were making the rounds, and setting up a world wide tour, Constantly growing and going farther forward that ever I'd imagined before. And all I ever did was to keep on dreaming and put aside my fears. That's how you, too, can be an overnight smash in a little under 59 years!!! V6 And if you want to go all the way to the top, simply do what I would do. Practice 24/7 'til you pass out cold and all of this could happen to you. Never let a doubt creep into your mind. If it does, just chase it away And concentrate on what's important to you, and play and play and play. (And...) Chorus Outro Friday August 15, 2008
