Story behind the song
waking from a drunken black out with my car smashed into a metal fence, I drove away down North Main until my car began throwing sparks from the two flat tires in the front.... exiting my vehicle I grabbed a serrated blade from my backpack and began walking down the dark streets of the industrial district, I slashed my arm 7 times twice directly to the bone... at this point the police flagged me down and I threw my blade at them... the entire street was blocked off by fire trucks and around 12 cop cars, there was so much blood they had to clean it off with a fire hose.... all of this was prompted after the death of my mother and grand mother and the ending of a 4 year relationship... once in the hospital I was given 97 stitches and took an overdose of Klonopin directly in front of 4 cops who didn't even notice... I of course spent a rather extensive stint in a mental institute... followed by drug rehabs, homeless shelters and many other sordid places....
Lyrics
I've got shoes on my feet watch the skid marks as I hit my knees I left a groove in the pavement as I careened down Main Street, somewhere I stopped vacant buildings, past them I walked it was dark in a bad part of town I threw some sparks as I slowed down I'm broken into a thousand pieces ten thousand names I could be called, but no, you just say that it's my fault well, that much I know... I've met every single ghost in this house you popped my cherry, finally I knew what it was about... I didn't mean it, but hey that's not the point you're just another boy to pleasure me as I fall asleep when I'm not even there, guess I'll act like I care who could've known that I'd crack like an egg? That's what I should've said... we were so young when we died she was so young when she died I was so young when I died we were so young when we died could you mean it when you throw me aside? I could be it if I wasn't so high I need somewhat of a challenge babe I need some one that can take your place I'm fluttered and I'm losing some time I guess it swallows and I guess that's just fine by me we were so young when we died, we were so young she was so young when we died, she was so young I was so young when I died, I was so young you were so young when you died, you were so young we were so young when we died, we were so young...
