Story behind the song
Thanx to Nigel Hardy for his fantastic Keyboard work in this. Everyone must have at least one solid spiritual song in their portfolio. This is mine. I hope you dig it!! Maceman
Lyrics
Been travellin’ on this lonely road Not many greet me on the way One darkened night, the wind did blow I found an Inn in which to stay And deep inside to my surprise Was a one with golden eyes And hair of curls Said, leave your bags upon the floor And your burden at the door Don’t cast your pearls On the lonely road Forty days and forty nights Just long enough to set me free Then I beheld a blinding light And heard the voice, will you marry me And then inside to my surprise Was the one with golden eyes And hair of curls Said, leave your bags upon my floor And your burden at my door Don’t cast your pearls On the lonely road When travellin’ on this lonely road And seeking refuge from the storm On darkened night, when wind is cold Look for the Inn to keep you warm ‘Cause deep inside is a surprise The one with golden eyes And hair of curls Just leave your bags upon the floor And your burden at the door Don’t cast your pearls On the lonely road
