Poetic, thoughtful, lyrical. I sound like me and try not to make comparisons to other artists though my influences span decades.
Hi, my name is Derrick Thompson aka Darkwind, Deebo Da Iceman, Black Ice, Bishop. There are strong currents of social and religous thoughts that run through my text and my hope is to be able to transfer some of that to the music. I only hope you can take some time out and enjoy. Easy now, -D

Reconnect Written by Derrick Thompson September 24, 2009 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Verse 1: He was always known for playin' with time As if a serious thought never entered his mind Preoccupied with dreams had em sleepin' in life Society blame his folk for not teachin' em right But they both got lives where they rakin' in dough As a sacrifice, the boy got used to growin' alone Then, as he got used to straight runnin' wild They let em go So a child got left behind ~ learned to fend on his own He tends to play the lone wolf~ Solitude in his ways Got em prone to smart remarks cause he can't relate And perhaps the greatest failure of all Is that the folk who could have helped declined to get involved Could be a sign of the time meant to indicate change Although we vague, "hardly anyone insinuates blame" It's how the game gets played in these days of pc We see a child full of heartache and pain Break the chains... Hook1: C'mon, mind the signs you consistently missed Extra effort as we try to reconnect with these kids Hope and pray its not too late and they see what it is First, be honest with yourself, then be honest with them ~ Take a minute to let your youngins know What they mean to ya soul ~how you hope they grow One day at a time~ Make up for every single second you missed Redefine what love is ~ Reconnect with ya kids Verse 2: She was daddy's little girl from the heart A future paved with art Right from the start Her mindstate's a queen With a mind so sharp It's like she sees in between Lines, light and the dark Her lil attitude was tart Since she started to talk Throwin fits just to get What it is she want As daddy's time got short (Got short) She developed a grudge And appreciated money So much more than hugs And so much more than tough She fought what she thought Daddy's gone, left her there Now, she's impaired and lost Can't see the forest for the trees So each thing is cause For her to flip, lose her grip And straight piss you off Knows better but can't do it Won't admit when she's wrong She find herself goin' through life Singin' the same old song Always victimized Complainin' that she's misunderstood When she don't understand herself In the way that she should Now Hook: C'mon, mind the signs you consistently missed Extra effort as we try to reconnect with these kids Hope and pray its not too late and they see what it is First, be honest with yourself, then be honest with them ~ Take a minute to let your youngins know What they mean to ya soul ~how you hope they grow One day at a time~ Make up for every single second you missed Redefine what love is ~ Reconnect with ya kids Verse 3: This an age where kids got knowledge to spare But they miss vision and wisdom And too often, don't care Raised by airwaves, Ignorant about importance of prayer Be the same ones unaware of Addictions to despair Where the mission given is knowledge That's tryin' to share To show a better way, admonish Criticize but be honest, I Know it ain't fair but sometimes speakin' on it Brings it to where You can see it from where I stand and Analyze it from here Experience as a man, all my truth and mistakes That were clear, weren't always made Most times for my sake I hope I'm reachin' your ears Hope you treasure your days Aside from things you fear Hope you treasure your way You'll come to find out who you are and Hurt as hard as you love Have no regrets in your tears And know that work is a must Belief will give you strength to deal When you o.d. on life And get too much of the real Know how you feel It's alright, it's alright Hook: C'mon, mind the signs you consistently missed Extra effort as we try to reconnect with these kids Hope and pray its not too late and they see what it is First, be honest with yourself, then be honest with them ~ Take a minute to let your youngins know What they mean to ya soul ~how you hope they grow One day at a time~ Make up for every single second you missed Redefine what love is ~ Reconnect with ya kids
