Story behind the song
This was a song I wrote for my friend, author John Green, to celebrate the release of his book, Paper Towns, in title appropriate paper back. The strange capitalization of the lyrics are an inside joke relating to one of the characters in the book.
Lyrics
how Do You separate The place From The people?
The People Are the Place Is The People. They're the Face of
the Paper towns the paper Streets I've walked down.
they're All the Same. It's all So plain. i'll Go Insane Unless I Leave. i've Just Got to Skip town.
But If i Go there Is One Thing i Want to do.
One Big thing, one Last hoorah's what It comes Down to.
before i Go And While i say My last Goodbyes (Or bad-Byes)
I'll make Q Jacobsen the kick-ass hero he was in my ten-year-old eyes.
but then You Go, you Went And you Surprised me,
Here all Along, I thought you were Just 2-D
too flat, Too Scared to Do all the things I Jotted for
Noble kick-Ass quentin, hero Next Door!
but Then That night You go And Turn out To be Real
and It Ends Up so Odd and so fun I can Not help But Feel (I. Will. Miss. Hanging. Out. With. You.)
i might Not want To go and Leave the Progress That's begun
I want To Hang-out And chat, Just me, q And The rising Sun.
how Do You separate The place From The people?
The People are the place Is the people. I'm The face Of A paper Town.
i Need A real Paper town.
