Story behind the song
I wrote this song 5 days after my dad's unexpected death. I have had alot of family die in my life, but nothing was like this. It was amazing, and still is, how The Holy Spirit kept me in praise in the midst of the most intense grief that I have, and maybe ever will, experienced. This song turned out NOTHING like what I had in mind when I wrote it. I came out of the bathroom to my bedroom the other day and there was this funky chord playing- I guess the cat got on the keyboard, or maybe an angel pressed the keys, i only know that when I left the room my keyboard wasn't playing anything. I sat down to figure out what the chord was and and what keys to press to reproduce it.Turns out , it was an Am7- I didn't even know that my keyboard would play a minor 7th! The problem that I had when I wrote it was that I couldn't get the verse melody and the chorus melody to quite blend ; but when I sat down everything just came togather! I happed to see something at the bottom of the Audacity window and , curious, I enlarged the window - there was the 3rd track that I was working on. In the next couple of hours, i started to understand how to adjust the mix using the envelope tool( little dots). This is the best that I have been able to turn out so far, and I am so excited. I know the chorus is a little low, but to have it higher bought some distortion that marred the words, so I kept it low.
