Story behind the song
Hello all, I hope you are well. I had a most unique experience that is very earthy in nature and proved to be a substantive approach of learning more about the availability of locally grown produce that garners the consumer many benefits toward health and the environment. Please listen to the interview I conducted with, Dagmar Baur of the Toronto Community Garden Network on the topic of, Weeds if you can't beat them, eat them. Please listen to this very informative interview with Dagmar Baur conducted on May 3 2008 by Paul Richmond at The Brickworks in the Don Valley of Toronto on the topic of; Weeds, If You Can't Beat Them, Eat Them! Here is the link to the event; http://ymlp.com/z90MZT May 3 2008 Wild Things With Wings: A Celebration of Native Pollinators in the City Workshop presenters included pollinator expert Laurence Packer, Seeds of Diversity's Bob Wildfong, the Beehive Collective, garden expert Lorraine Johnson, The Toronto Beekeepers Co-op, weed expert Dagmar Baur, and more! ABOUT THE DAY This will be a day of workshops, information sessions, and family fun! Wild Things With Wings will raise awareness about the importance of urban pollinators such as bees and butterflies in Canada’s cities. Workshops will cover topics such as creating eco-friendly gardens that enhance neighbourhoods, urban naturalization, plant and pollinator identification, edible weeds, biodiversity for food security, and an introduction to native plants. Gratitude to Dagmar Baur for your community spirit and for caring for the world through your wisdom, knowledge and experience. I enjoyed interviewing Dagmar and taking part in her workshop about Weeds, if you can't beat them, eat them. Dagmar's workshop was exceedingly informative and entertaining. We hope that you the listener may gain valuable insight into what we can all do to make the world a better place through healthy choices in our daily diets. If you want to learn more about Dagmar please check "Heritage Toronto" website for a story "Finding Home in the Bain Co-op". It's about her becoming a gardener. http://www.heritagetoronto.org/discover-toronto/community-stories/finding-home-bain-co-op Best regards, Paul
