J.O (JisOfficial) was born November 10, 1989 as Jonathan Ford. He always had a deep passion for music not letting the barrier of genres dictate his musical taste. Brought up in Memphis he did though have a closeness to genres like the blues and gospel, it always had a strong prevalence in his life. During his younger years he sang in the church choir and was greatly astonished at how his father led the songs and moved the audiences into having spiritual experiences by voyaging them into receiving the holyghost. Hiphop wasnât yet introduced to J.O at this time of his life. Merely a 4yr old child he was still taking in the enchanting sounds of the Isleys. His introduction to hiphop music was coming fast and unexpected all due to one thing, his enrollment into Double Tree Elementary. âœI notice my friend Trevor rapping in the cafeteria, he just passed recently but at the time I asked him what was he rapping.â He replied by saying âœthis is Hard Knock Life by Jay-Zâ. âœThat day I went home and searched for a channel on the TV that played rap and I watched it with my brother beside me both of us slightly trembling unknowing if we could watch this strange new form of entertainment for us. As the commercials went by we began shaking in anticipation and dreading the fear of our dad walking in and seeing us. The hard knock life song finally came on and half way through the song I saw my dad through the glass doors. My brother told me to change the channel but instead I clutched the remote as if it was my life that I had to protect by keeping it out of harms way. The door then opened and my dad looked at the TV then looked at us and smiled at our frightened faces then walked to his room.â J.O then started not only watching hiphop, but also studying it. He began his expedition to learning about artist, their craft of lyrics and soon started writing poetry to document words he would be timid to utter. He used writing to speak his pains and joys of life. He then was enrolled into Mitchell as a middle school student. Mitchell at the time being a combination of high school and middle was a huge step for him in the realization of how some people lived. His poetry then evolved into rap. Transferring to Middle College for High School he meet another person who soon became a great friend and this friend also shared the same hustle mentality as he did. His name was Tommie (2Fingaz) Sample and they began recording daily in the schools music room and performing at the school events. His networking skills are undeniably great with artist and building up a fan base through the internet. He has dove into lifeâs depths of obstacles making it out victorious. Now attending MTSU and teaming up with musician LB on many songs he people to notice him and his musical endeavors. They dropped the music video âœFeelinâ itâ from his mixtape âœBuried Treasureâ. And J.O is just in fact that, treasure waiting to get discovered.
