Story behind the song
Written just days before the tragedy of 911. Dianne had been sitting in the dining room watching a bird outside on the hedge through the window, and was inspired to write the song. She writes most of her songs in about ten minutes, and this one was no exception. Ironically, she had just performed a benefit for the Red Cross, where very few attended. Days later, the Red Cross was called to help with the victims and situation of September 11, 2001. After she wrote the song, the next day she found that little bird dead, on the ground near the window. Due to the circumstances, she added (The 911 Song) to the title.
