Story behind the song
A bunch of us get together on Tuesdays to play a little music. On occasion, we stop by a pub, usually the 100-mile Diner in Warkworth, for their open mic night. Our trumpet player's son, David Orrett, has joined us a few times. Dave makes his living playing, producing, teaching and writing music. Lucky for us it turns out.
Dave decided he wanted to write an old school-type jazz ballad with the voices of Diane and Barb in mind. So we joined him and his studio musician friends at Dave's recording studio in Toronto. We laid down this track of his brand new song Sunday afternoon and evening.
How new is the song? We got the music the Tuesday before we recorded it (October 25, 2009). The sisters got the lyrics when they arrived at the studio. Nothing like the last minute.
