One of Fractal Rock's earliest tunes, it opens with a Floydesque intro which degenerates into a Crimsonish fragment for a verse followed by a chorus that was sourced in part from the classical piece "Saturn" from "The Planets Suite" by Gustav Holst. Joel said it sound like falling down a well, and DaveT said it sounded more like falling up a well, none of us are really sure what the dif is.... but the title stuck.
Lyrics
Falling up The Well
Everywhere I go
everything I do
** turning burning
thoughts I used to think
used to think were true
though Iaa‚¬a„¢m angry
keeping it inside myself
all this crazy
** falling up the well
falling up the well...
I donaa‚¬a„¢t know
how they let it get this far
**why I let it
eat me up inside
Like a tidal wave it rushes over me
I just wish
it would wash me out to sea
wash me out to sea
take me out to sea . . . please.
(Chorus)
While aa‚¬Â¦Iaa‚¬a„¢m aa‚¬Â¦sleeping
I am flying over
fields of golden dreams
lakes and cooling,
effervescing springsaa‚¬Â¦.
Everywhere I go
everything I do
running circles
I just never get a clue
When I dream
everything is vivid clear
why is it
I can get no one to hear.
get no one to hear..
get no one to hearaa‚¬Â¦(.here)\
I just want
I just want some peace of mind
something I
something that I need find
Thereaa‚¬a„¢s a chance
I will never leave this hell
It makes me crazy
always falling up the wellaa‚¬Â¦
falling up the well
always falling up the wellaa‚¬Â¦
(Chorus)
While aa‚¬Â¦Iaa‚¬a„¢m aa‚¬Â¦sleeping
I am flying over
fields of golden dreams
lakes and cooling,
cool refreshing springs
It would always seem
that Iaa‚¬a„¢m running up a hill
out of breath
thereaa‚¬a„¢s no end in sight I feel
holding on
to every little bit of hope
hanging on
to the bitter end of the rope....
I am crazy
**always falling
falling up the well
falling up the well
I am falling up the well...
Everywhere I go
everything I do
falling up the well
falling up the well
falling up the well
falling falling
Annie Lennox and Pink Floyd would be proud. Love this song!
