Story behind the song
Words are a funny thing. When I heard John Recording his vocal for this song, I assumed it was a somewhat spiritual song, you know about God. Since I don't write lyrics I do my talking through my guitar parts, and musically I try to make the gui...tar solos "match" the emotion that John is trying to ge across vocally. One of the things that I thought we were always pretty good at was the interaction between his voice and my guitar. However, after talking to John about what the song was about, it appears his voice and my guitar were speaking to different people. I was playing to God and he said it was just a guy singing about a girl. Shows you what I know. And I'm pretty sure I would have played differently had I known thats what it was about. Either way I think it is still one of our better songs.
