An ode to the artists of magic, and their impact in people's lives. After hearing the song, a few magician friends asked to use it in their act. I recorded personalized versions for each of them. PRO RECORDING
Soulful Beach Groove music following in the footsteps of Van Morrison, Eva Cassidy, Bill Withers, Jack Johnson, Elton John and Sting... with a French twist!
Story behind the song
I have a few magician friends. On the occasion of Brian Gillis' birthday--a very well-known performer--I decided to write a tribute song to this art form.
Lyrics
No, you can't pull a rabbit out of a hat
Only a real magician can do that
Pick a card, any card but don't tell me
Now, watch my hands very closely
And will you look at that floating table
Boy, that should be impossible
Would you please cut this rope, Madam, now it's whole again
How many coins in my left hand?
Children laughing, wanting more
Grown-ups with their jaws on the floor
Misdirection, deception, comedy
Vanished the Statue of Liberty
I pray there's always smoke and mirrors
Silky ribbons changing colors
The real world should be more like magic
Some sure could learn a few tricks
So thank you, Masters of Illusion
Escape and Prestidigitation
Houdini, Blaine, Uri Geller
Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller
Hermann the Great, Copperfield, Henning
The list goes on, never ending
[OK to substitute personalized phrase here]
