Innovative Canadian composer/performer, inventor of the Piantar, also a unique Guitarist, Pianist and Bass player. His latest album is called The Light of Day
An innovative Composer/Performer of instrumental music, Mark has spent much time in carving out an identity on several different instruments. Currently his attentions are focused on an instrument that he invented called the 'Piantar', and playing Jazz guitar. Stylistically Mark enjoys mixing things up and is well versed in many styles. Some of Mark's numerous influences are mentioned below, but lately he would say that listening to nature is having the biggest impact on his current musical approach. His most recent release is called 'The Elements of Chance', and it showcases Mark's unique approach to improvising on Acoustic guitar which involves playing in a random alternate tuning for each new peice, as well as an assortment of original playing techniques such as 'Chordal Harmonics' and 'Dragon slurs'. This album was released under the stage name 'WAKAN', which means sacred in Lakota, and Heart of the Sky in Mayan. Two years before this (2000) he released an album of acoustic guitar music called 'The Light of Day'. This album represents Mark's return to music after sustaining an injury to his shoulders that left him unable to play for several years.

Story behind the song
This was the first Piantar piece to reach a large audience back in 94. It uses a bit of minimalism to represent the infinite feeling that one experiences when contemplating a Russian Doll.
