The Race
Comment Share
The song speaks about perseverance to win the prize, following Christ in life, and to be like Christ. The subject is sanctification rather than salvation, because faith already exists. The winning is what a believer does to be more pleasing to God.

Many genres, Contemporary Christian, Lyrics, instrumentals
I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
This song comes from a song seed melody that I had stored on a cassette tape many years ago. I seemed to be discovering and exploring the I and bVII chord sequence.
Lyrics
The Race Well, the race is on, I'm following Christ With all my mind, With all my might So, I follow onward On to the Goal. Where faith may go, Only God knows Chorus: And the race is not who's clever or fast. But the race is for who ever will last. And Christ is all that I persue. So, I run to win, and not to lose. [3rd chorus: And with Christ alone I'll never lose.] And race gets tight I'm keeping my stride, Losing my pride To win the prize And my feet will press on, Keeping the pace, Giving the chase To see His face. (chorus) Soon, the race will end. I've fought the good fight. Time after time, I have survived. As I near the finish, Is God well pleased? Is my life free? Witnesses see.
