For Sarah Noelle. Unfinished.
I'm really just a lyricist who is looking to team up with a great composer to create songs that glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Story behind the song
I have a blog, and enjoying surfing other people's blogs too. For awhile I was tracking a blog written by a girl in New York City named Sarah Noelle Pagan. After reading her story, I wrote this song--the chorus is what I wish I could say to her.
Lyrics
Soon she'll turn 18
But tonight the fears and the dreams keep her awake
She thought she knew where she was
But today the bright lights and buzz are just getting her down
Painful memories fill up old familiar haunts
She is crying out, but she doesn't know what she wants
Chorus:
Sarah, look in the mirror to see who you are
Precious and loved, no matter how far you have run
Sarah, look to the sky to see who you can be
Wrapped in his arms, with all of your doubts overcome
Free to find your destiny
She turns on the light once again
To pour out her life on the page, plain black and white
Answers no clearer than before
The problems loom large and near, and who really cares
No one will show her the way to where she needs to go
She wants meaning, not friendships so shallow
Chorus
Not by chance did I read her story
Not by fate would I write this song
Though you think we have nothing in common
You don't know where I have come from
My soul reaches out for a sister so far away
And given a chance I would say
Chorus
