Walking down desolation row
Had to stop before the bend
And the heat was so fierce

As I was heading for the beach
I knew I was kind of tiptoeing

I was just living in a dream (tropical dream)
And the sun is burning my skin
Now let me tell you what I've seen (what have I seen)
I saw you seated by the counter
And slowly getting high
Someone breathed down my neck
He say: "you go now don't ask why" (don't ask me why)
And as I turned to stare at him
I saw you looking at me in the eyes
I said: "this ain't going any further"
"The greatest dreams contain their lies" (contain their lies)
Think I thought I heard you say
"Sorry your story is way too strange"
And I heard my voice retort:
"But it came to me that way" (to me that way)
Next thing I saw was a feverish smile
And it was directed at me
Up in those golden "paddy" fields
With the two solitary trees
I could hear music in the distance
The notes were soothing
Ye ye ye ye ye ye ye ........
Yet another long rewarding day
Now the sun was setting in my dream
