BLACK LUNG ENTERTAINMENT A LABEL...A LIFESTYLE
Bio of Clinton “C3” Tripplett CEO/Producer/Songwriter/Engineer/Computer Technician of Black Lung Entertainment, I was born Clinton Tripplett, but my industry name is “C3”. A couple of friends of mine: Ryan “Sheff” Sheffield, Ollie “O.G.” Grayson, and myself had a common interest in hip-hop and a very strong belief in our ability to create music. From our bonding belief we created a name for a recording label we wanted to establish called Black Lung Entertainment. We also noticed that everyone around our neighborhood said they were rappers but no one actually took the time to invest in a real home studio. So I took it upon myself to create a great “project” studio where my talented group of friends could come create some “magic” and help individuals like Lebron James, Ray Cash, and Avant put Cleveland back on the map. I was born in Rockford, Illinois but shortly after my parents split up. So my mom and I moved to the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. I attended school at Aurora High School and I graduated in 2003. I went to The University of Akron, to study psychology, and that’s where I met “O.G” and “Sheff” who were in the same dorm building as I was. It was there that we started to find our passion for music. It was shortly into our second semester when I decided to invest some money into the equipment that would start our studio. I am heavy into production, it is my true passion. I found a good mentor and close friend of mine to teach me some of the knowledge I needed to know to create my own beats. I started and still continue to use Reason 3.0, along with Recycle 2.0 to create my own chopped samples. Nuendo 3.0 as my sequencing program and I later purchased a drum program called Battery 2.0 for a better engine to create my drum samples on. My first piece of analog gear I recently bought was the Roland Fantom X6 keyboard, which I am still tinkering with to learn the ins and outs. The microphone I record on is an Audio-Technica AT3035. In 2006 I became a member of ASCAP. So far I have helped produce my hip-hop group, Black Lung, also a pop group named LB and Styles, a gospel songstress named Lisa Hall, a conscious MC called Confidence, another rap artist named J-Phil, and I am currently producing and managing my new artist Leon Smith aka Vietnam the Doughboy (checkout our music @ myspace.com/Vietnamthedoughboy). All the groups I have helped produce have received a bit of radio play but nothing major. We continue to work on our sound and establish a buzz in the cities of Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus Ohio and now Atlanta, Georgia and its’ surrounding suburbs; until we have the opportunity to be heard by the right people. I know as a producer I have a lot of raw talent and great potential but I also know I have a whole lot to learn. I work twenty-four hours, day in and day out, perfecting my craft and I hope to one day be as established as a Dr. Dre, Timberland, or Kanye West. But until then I am always seeking mentorship and guidance. I am certain when you have the opportunity to listen to the CDs you will see my potential or something worth investing in, please contact me and I would love to start collaborating with you.
