Song For the Broken Hearted
Ballad in the style of the Beatles circa "Help!" and "Rubber Soul," with a little bit of "Blonde on Blonde" and maybe some Nick Drake (at least with regard to the guitar sound).

Story behind the song
Lyrics inspired a bit by the movie "Almost Famous." Nothing like knowing from the get-go that a relationship is doomed while wanting in the worst sort of way for it to be different.

SONG FOR THE BROKENHEARTED
Let's have a song for the brokenhearted,
Of candles guttering, fading away,
Of children's vows never to be parted,
And of the price everyone has to pay.
Were you aware on the day you met me
It wouldn't be too long we said goodbye?
Don't go and say it was not meant to be --
It simply was what it was. Dry your eye.
To give in to guilt and shame
I thought I'd never do
Before I learned your name
And entertained the thought of loving you.
I know my hopes and dreams
Had no right to exist.
Fate can play tricks it seems --
I should have known that when we kissed.
Let's have a song for the brokenhearted,
Of candles guttering, fading away,
Of children's vows never to be parted,
And of the price everyone has to pay.
