Acoustic blues. Kind of Lovin' Spoonful-ish.

Story behind the song
Written in 1978 for Carrie Brown, whom I met while working at a summer camp in Colorado.
Lyrics
HONEYDEW BLUES I was shopping one day at the market, Loading up all the usual cuisine, When I looked over at the fruit counter -- Prettiest melons, yeah, that I'd ever seen. Excuse me, ma'am, can you tell me What those are? She replied, "Honeydew." I said, "Of course," then I asked her, "Might I have myself a squeeze or two?" They looked oh, so delightfully tasty, But she laughed and she just shook her head, She said, "Sorry, honey, hands off the honeydew, Why not have a banana instead?" I've been living by bread alone, Sure could use something new. I've been hungry and cold as stone And I long for my sweet honeydew. Now, you might think that I felt rejected, But the truth is I paid it no mind. It was more or less what I'd expected, And you know I'm the honeydew kind. And I've never been the luckiest fellow, But I've always had a strong appetite. And my luck took a turn (as I was soon to learn) When I split my sweet honeydew wide.
