New recording, better vocals AND guitar, as I finally got around to recording them separately! Still got a crappy mic though, so apologies for that... It's based on real life, but exaggerated for artistic effect!
I am a songwriter, who intends to gather a band, and maybe learn to sing. I do a kinda rocky style of music, the two songs that I consider complete have been likened to Audioslave/RATM in parts for one, and the other song has two main riffs one of which is like Jet, and the other is like Graham Coxon...
Story behind the song
It's about a break-up, though as mentioned the song is far more angry than I feel, as it is more cathartic this way, and makes for a better song!
Lyrics
Verse 1:
We, had lasted for so long
We, always seemed so strong
We, had never really fought
Surely we, just weren't ready,
Ready, for the end?
Chorus 1:
It was you - it was all your choice
Left me gasping - illusion of a voice,
Your mind made up - out came the knife
We parted - so began the strife
Verse 2:
I, was ready to commit
I, never wanted to split
I, could have settled down
And I, I just wasn't ready,
Ready, for the end
Chorus 2:
It was you - it was all your choice
A fake discussion - illusion of a voice
So for the best - for your own good
We parted - you thought we should
Verse 3:
You, weren't ready to take root
You, had others in pursuit
You, just wanted to be free
And you, you were all too ready,
Ready, for our end
Chorus 3:
It was you - it was all your choice
Left me gasping - illusion of a voice,
Your mind made up - for your own good
We parted - you thought we should
Chorus 4:
It was you - it was all your choice
A fake discussion - illusion of a voice
So for the best - out came the knife
So we parted - so began my strife
It was you, it was you...
