I am a pianist who also plays hurdy gurdy and I like to combine the two instruments (this is not possible on my own in real time!). Putting chordal piano music against droning gurdy melodies makes for an interesting combination, with or without the rhythmic buzz which has to be used with some care.

Story behind the song

This tune challenges boring 4-time rhythms by being mostly in 7-time.  It makes it a pig to play on hurdy gurdy, but with a piano backing and some other studio additions you have enough for a nice two-minute workout.  All instrumental performance by Matt, with huge help from John at Tontena Studio.
