Story behind the song
Written in the mid 1970's for a folk festival in my home town of London Ontario. They wanted to shut it down but we knew better and it's still going strong today. :-D
Lyrics
Hey Listen let me tell now and I hope you don't mind,
I'm gonna sing you all a story bout Home County Time.
Now it's a time when all the people get together for a while,
And it's the time when all the people get together for a smile,
It's the time when we all gather in July.
Now if you look to your left and you look to your right,
You see all kinds of people man it's so out of sight.
You see the short ones, the tall ones, the big and the round,
You see the wired ones, the tired ones but nobody frowns,
Well alright alright alright alright Well alright my friends.
So now you all can plainly see that the people in the park are here
peace-ably
So you won't mind if we have a good time,
Home County is a real good time Home County is a dam good time.
And if you want to see and you want to shout out,
Then listen to the music baby you gonna find out.
You gonna find every time every time.
Well...whoa-whoa-wo
Home County's Alright.
Now you can walk among the trees, or you can dodge all the bees.
Or you can suck back on a coke or you can enjoy a little smoke.
Or you can sit back, relax, forget about your feed backs,
And have your self a fine old time.
Or you look at all the pretty girls in tight blue jeans and baby curls.
You can watch them strut their stuff from early dawn until the dusk.
And when the sun sets, then I'll bet, that that is when you elect,
to have your self a fine old time.
And if you want to sing and you want to shout out,
Then listen to the music baby you gonna find out.
You gonna find every time every time,
Well...Whoa whoa wo
Home County's alright.
Home County's alright.
Now if your anything like me and like me I'm simply me,
You know I don't go out to discotheques.
I hate them fancy scenes.
I like to settle down, mellow down, sit and watch the sun go down.
And look it as the time rolls by.
So if you look at all the workshops with the many works of art,
You know you won't find nothing fancy and you won't find nothing smart.
But you'll find beauty and quality so many things you just don't see.
Look it ,it's a time rolling by.
And if you want to sing and you want to shout out,
Then listen to the music baby you gonna find out.
You gonna find every time every time.
Well...Whoa whoa wo
Home County's alright.
Well-l-l-l if you want to sing and you want to shout out.
Then listen to the music baby you gonna find out
You gonna find every time, every time.
Home County's alright
Home County's alright
Home County's alright alright it's a real good time.
You can walk in the rain you can walk in the sun-sun shine.
Home County's alright.
Home County's alright.
Home County's alright.
