Story behind the song
All the songs on this CD were inspired, written and recorded during my stay in Jerusalem in 2001. It was during the time of the second intifada. It was a crazy place, and for an Australian with no knowledge of this historical city, it was a wonderful learning experience.
Lyrics
Blood in the Sand
There’s blood in the sand, of this Holy Land.
Every grain has been stained, in this sad Holy Land.
By the letting of blood, for 1000’s of years.
Only washed clean, by a mother’s tears.
Who’s lookin’ for peace, in this Holy Land.
Just fighting for TV, in this Holy Land.
Dieing for the TV, will make you a man.
More mother’s tears, to wash the sand.
Under my feet, I tread on years of blood.
With every step, another death in the mud.
Is there a soul, who could save this land,
From the old men of anger, and the devil’s hand.
There’s blood in the sand, of this Holy Land.
Every grain has been stained, in this sad Holy Land.
By the letting of blood, for 1000’s of years.
Only washed clean, by a mother’s tears.
