Just a Lyric writer
Hi I'm Noel and I write poetry, ballads, and lyrics. The songs here are collaborations I've taken part in. I mostly either only write the lyric or collaborate on the lyric but occasionally I will do a melody too. If you are interested in using any of the songs here, please feel free to contact me. I am also looking for songwriters who are interested in my kind of lyrics to collaborate with.

Story behind the song
Was listening to Gene Autry and a heap of others doing some real old country and western and wanted to write in that same old style an Austalian folk song.
Lyrics
Night Watch Lullaby. By Noel Downs Copyright Sleep all you scrubbers till morning, We'll soon head homeward again. Sleep all you scrubbers sleep deeply, And dream you are safe in the pens. Lay yourselves down in the salt bush, The kangaroos have moved out to graze. Don't let the night-lights disturb you, And I'm here to quieten the strays. The birds at the waterhole won't hurt you, The emus will circle around, Take comfort in the tunes they are chanting, When there's danger they won't make a sound. Just relax and chew your cud softly, Don’t fret over shadowy trees, Peacefully low your contentment, Don't be frightened by rustling leaves. The night travellers aren't here to wake you, They're quietly passing you by. They're off to drink the cool waters, From the gully down there by your side. Chorus Sleep all you scrubbers till morning, We'll soon head homeward again. Sleep all you scrubbers sleep deeply, And dream you are safe in the pens. The Dingos may howl in the moon light, But they won't dare bother you here. The birds in the waterhole are watching, And will warn us if they come near. Tomorrow we'll make the home paddocks, And there for the winter you'll stay. Safe from the howling of west winds, And plenty of fresh lush green graze. Chorus Sleep all you scrubbers till morning, We'll soon head homeward again. Sleep all you scrubbers sleep deeply, And dream you are safe in the pens. Sleep all you scrubbers sleep deeply, And dream you are safe in the pens.
