Story behind the song
I wrote this song because I once had someone in my life who was very special. He is deceased. This is a song about my own self.

People let me tell you all a story about a family portrait that I've seen. I hope this family portrait means as much to you as it means to me. Now the man that you see is all alone in the world, searching for a dream he'd hoped to find. He needed a home, someone else to call his own, and the woman that he found I believe was right. And now the woman she was lonely and needed a friend, searching for a dream she'd hoped to find. She needed a home, and someone else to love, and they found each other and it was right. So they told each other every day I'll love you, and promised to be together till the end. They strengthened their love with some help from Above, that's how this family portrait begins. (Second verse) Through many trials and tribulations they had a family, a miracle that never might have been; for the man's health was poor and the woman she was blind, and they counted on each other every day. And they told their children every day they loved them, I believe it's how it's meant to be; and with Mom and Dad to guide them and some help from Above, that's how this family portrait came to be. (third verse) Now I believe that you will see them when their kids are finally grown, and they'll go their separate ways and have a family of their own. And they'll all come to see them and remember all they shared, and reminisce about old times at home. And now they're telling their children that they love them, and I believe that's how it's meant to be.
