Lyrics
I remember back in '84 I was affraid of nuclear war The Russians would push the button and there would be no more life as we knew would come to end after a screaching roar no matter if you were in a fall out shelter hugging the floor After watching the "Day After" on TV I was convinced I woulden't live to see past 30 because noone would survive a World War three and if they did, it'd be misery but the Berlin wall came down and things quieted down Things seemed secure I think I'll be around fast forward: the second week in september, summer's almost over days getting shorter, nights getting colder it was a tuesdy morning a cloudless day that's the day when everthing had changed a day when it seemed security went down the drain I knew after this nothing would be the same after the second plane hit I knew this was it that wasn't an accident it was a terrorist hit millions watched tv with tears in their eyes as they watched the ending of so many lives with smoke so thick you can see it from space heat so bad people jumping 100 stories to escape That day the sky was so blue no cloud to the hide the heavens that day in september I'll always remember In history class i read from old musty books and text after the test all these past events just get buried in my head I can't relate to all these people, places and dates only thing they have to do with me is a test grade september eleventh two thousand one that's a date I'll never forget all those lives lost, ashes to ashes dust to dust before our eyes, faster than the eye can blink three thousand people perished but to me that's more than a number they're husbands, cousins, wives, fathers, mothers lost and found all around, flowers, candles and American flags relatives, friends left with memories of all the times had memories still alive even after the dust settled lives lost still a permanent part like scar on my mind and heart I'll never forget that day in september all those lives cut short, I'll always remember
