Our songs make a social statement, if they piss you off, frustrate you, or make you laugh at the stupidity of it all then you haven't missed the point.
With an eye to defy categorization and convention, I created Casting Fate as an internet collaboration with some old colleagues and friends, all of them seasoned musicians with diverse rock, punk, progressive, and metal backgrounds, to make a statement about our changing world. I wanted to write songs that are topical and offer up alternate opinions and viewpoints that are often left unspoken in our mass media dominated culture. The song structure is straight ahead hard rock and classic heavy metal, but with the addition of sampling and synthesizers the music often takes on a progressive or industrial vibe. The lyrics make a social statement, if they piss you off, frustrate you, or make you laugh at the stupidity of it all then you haven't missed the point. Special thanks to J Dog Slam on the LP for his numerous contributions and for sharing the secret beat; and to Mme. M.E. for her spoken word content and for reminding me on a regular basis what the "big deal" really is anyway. Last but not least, there would be no Fate (but what we make) without Marple Mike. Thanks for listening, if you're interested in commercial use of these or you just have an opinion, send me an . Jon Engel

Lyrics
Let me say a few words about my buddy Bob, Hes a lot of things but hes no slob. Hes got a way with the ladies thats right on, Youd think what hes packings the size of a log. His talks as smooth as his words are cheap, The guyll sell you the shoes off your feet. But what I really like about my long time buddy, Is how hes made a living off of other peoples money. Youd have to call my buddy Bob a visionary, But what he sees sometimes is pretty scary. Hes got us holding hands round the campfire singing Kumbaya, But therere no marshmallows to roast cause no ones got a job. Sometimes it seems he cant see the forest for the trees, From what hes learned from the nuts organizing communities. But theres one thing he knows better than you and me, Thats how to walk off with other peoples money. Now Bobs a big shot, hes got it made, But he hasnt forgotten the chumps hes played. He keeps their names and numbers on his Blackberry, For when hes got a job thats shovel ready. Some have caught on but most havent guessed, Theyre going to need that shovel to dig out of this mess. As for Bob, well hes got the right idea you see, Hes gonna retire off of other peoples money.
