Nervous Knock / Throbbing Gabriel / Nervous Knock
Part experimental noise, part cover of Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers", part closing riff to The Rolling Stone's "Can't you Hear Me Knockin'." Colloquially known as "Knock, Gabriel, Knock".
Austin Scholl's solo songs and experiments. No limits except for my own equipment and talent.
Story behind the song
With my guitar in drop-D, I did a spastic guitar riff and almost came up with a bad song. Having effects on, I let the guitar ring out at the end and turned up the volume on it. It sounded so cool that I dropped everything before it and played the closing riff to the Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'." This became the first minute of the track, "Nervous Knock".
Tapping and banging the back of my guitar and bass allowed the strings to keep ringing, so I set out to do so for the next six minutes. Afterwards, I eventually decided to do a second Peter Gabriel cover, this time of "Games Without Frontiers", though how I would wasn't properly established till it was over. The resulting mess of awesomeness became subtitled "Thorbbing Gabriel", after Peter Gabriel and industrial noise pioneers Throbbing Gristle. The final two minutes are essentially a pseudo rhythmic sequel to "Nervous Knock", with the only real connection being I do the riff a second time.
"Throbbing Gabriel" is, admittedly, off very frequently.
Lyrics
"Nervous Knock 1 + 2" are instrumental.
"Throbbing Gabriel" (AKA: "Games Without Frontiers")-
Jeux sans frontieres
Jeux sans frontieres
Hans plays with lotte, lotte plays with jane
Jane plays with willi, willi is happy again
Suki plays with leo, sacha plays with britt
Adolf builds a bonfire, enrico plays with it
Whistling tunes we hide in the dunes by the seaside
Whistling tunes were kissing baboons in the jungle
Its a knockout
If looks could kill, they probably will
In games without frontiers
Andre has a red flag, chiang chings is blue
They all have hills to fly them on except for lin tai yu
Dressing up in costumes, playing silly games
Hiding out in tree-tops shouting out rude names
Whistling tunes we hide in the dunes by the seaside
Whistling tunes we piss on the coons in the jungle
Its a knockout
If looks could kill they probably will
In games without frontiers, war without tears
If looks could kill they probably will
In games without frontiers
Whistling tunes we hide in the dunes by the seaside
Whistling tunes were kissing baboons in the jungle
Its a knockout
If looks could kill, they probably will
In games without frontiers, war without tears
If looks could kill, they probably will
In games without frontiers, war without tears
Games without frontiers
