Story behind the song
I have made a few trips to the Islands in the past and always found myself wanting to stay much longer. If I could only bring back the feelings of comfort and serenity it would ease the pain of leaving just a little. I looked in the local stores for CDs that had actual recordings of ambient island sounds and music but was unable to find anything. So I decided to record it on my next trip. This time armed with some cool high-tech digital recording gear and a stereo microphone, I got up a few hours before sunrise and strolled to the ocean. Sitting on a large lava rock I recorded the rolling waves and as the sun began to rise the mynah birds, Maui cardinals and diamond doves added their songs to the mix. All I had to do now was to bring it home and add some of my own music.
