Story behind the song
Based on Psalm 2, this was written by David during Absalom's attempt to revolt by turning the people against David; the psalm also has Messianic implications as the people later turned against God's Annointed, Jesus - and has modern implications in that the world still seeks to discount God's plan and follow after their own hearts
Lyrics
VERSE 1:
Why do the nations rage?
Why do the people plan?
If all the world is a stage
Then it seems that they're recasting for God's leading man
PRE-CHORUS 1:
At first God laughs at their naivete
But now He's getting angry and He don't wanna play
CHORUS 1:
Don't they know that there's a King in here
A God-appointed, God-annointed King in here
But if they don't begin to show God fear
I'm 'fraid He's gonna to eat 'em up for lunch
VERSE 2:
And so God says to the King
'Happy Birthday, Son
If You could have anything
Look around and tell Me what would You want
PRE-CHORUS 2:
'Choose a continent, or choose a nation
Anything You want, it's Yours for the takin'
CHORUS 2:
Soon they'll know that there's a King in here
A God-appointed, God-annointed King in here
But if they don't begin to show God fear
I'm 'fraid He's gonna to eat 'em up for lunch
INSTRUMENTAL:
PRE-CHORUS 3:
CHORUS 3:
Don't they know that there's a King in here
A God-appointed, God-annointed King in here
But if they don't begin to show God fear
I'm 'fraid He's gonna to eat 'em up for lunch
