My name is Brett, hailing from central NC, originally from the southeastern region. I'm currently attending Sandhills Community College (I'm a rising sophomore) with a major in music (whoa, who woulda thunk, eh?). I'm hoping to transfer to Appalachian State for their audio production program and learn as much as possible about production/recording/engineering along the way. I started out on drums when I was in 6th grade and have been on guitar for over 2 years. I started this project in 10th grade originally as a joke, making "DADADA" noises for "guitars," like Beavis and Butthead. I didn't know how to play guitar yet back then, but it was something for me to do to vent boredom. Ever since I started guitar before my senior year of high school, I have managed to record 3 full-length songs. One of them (From the Pit of the Volcano) was recorded at what is now Unhidden Records (formerly known as Dreamtone Recording Studio) in Whiteville, NC for my senior project. The other two were recorded at home. I can't really say the equipment I use at home is top-notch (you can tell, of course, from hearing the recordings here), and I know the songs that are currently up are musically, well... Pretty bad. Note that when they were recorded, I had no knowledge at all of music theory. I was just playing what sounded pretty to me at the time, but you gotta start somewhere, right? Now I'm working on new material that will hopefully be much better, musically. I've had many ideas over the years about where to take my music, as far as genres are concerned. Most recently I've been working on another viking metal piece, as well as a melodic death metal piece. I also had intentions of making another project solely dedicated to folk/viking metal. Now I'm not so sure that's going to happen, though I will probably still make songs within that category, just making them for this project. I guess if you want a somewhat clear classification, my music will probably go towards the melodic death metal route, but with influences from various styles. Overtime, I tend to go through my little "music phases," like with my recent viking metal phase, and now I'm heading towards a technical/melodic death metal phase, so ideas will probably change often. I guess I'm still finding my "true sound," so to speak. That's about as good of a classification that I can give for now.
