Story behind the song
met a girl from my past this summer (2003) while truckin down this street in yellowknife, closed off because it was kinda a fair/event kinda deal,.... it was a mellow/freeing and happy conversation as we walked up and down... but I still felt bummed as I walked away. she's rad....just not with me (:
Lyrics
of all the possible places we could meet....yea. amongst hoardes of people on gated streets although i walked alone in my mind you were there.(yea) and my eyes were searching somehow knowing you'd appear and then you were a perfect combination like hourglass mixed with sand. only i wished time would go slower..... and we were biting lips at all the things to say. and you held an expression like there was something in the way explaining how things had been going ok and for you, it shouldn't be any other way.... and i laughed... remembering having your tiny hand in mine exploring twitching nervousness defined and the sun would warm us as long as it was allowed and so it did awhile and then drifted behind a cloud things got darker as i walked off alone "but our timeless conversation has it's place - as if etched in stone" if i understand you clearly - then what you're telling me - is that a boy shouldn't dream - and if that's the case your words are falling on deaf ears. if i understand you clearly then what you're telling me - is that a boy shouldn't dream - and if that's the case your words are falling on deaf ears, if that's the case your words are falling on deaf ears, if that's the case your words are failing ):
