Story behind the song
I just found this poetry on the inter-web one day and emailed the writer and asked if i could use it to make a song out of, she listened to some of my other stuff and then agreed to let me use it, which is cool... I don't think this song is sad as much as it is hopeful and that's really what drew me to the writing in the first place... jah.
Lyrics
these are my scissors (**LYRICS BY HEATHER LAIRD -june 18, 2oo1**) If you hold my hand, I'll come with you. If you decide to join me, I'll show you my scars. I have been given so many scratches, some that are still open and bleeding. The deeper ones hurt the most. I press my hands against the glass. It's time for this wall to shatter. and have my day in the sun On your side of the glass, it's so much brighter, but on mine... I live in a world of black and grey, thunder and lightning, tears and abuse. I dare not trade places with anyone, I dare not open the side door. I press my hands against the glass it's time for this wall to shatter, and cease existing all together. Allowing your light to take over. It rains here all the time You learn to find beauty in such colorless surroundings. I dance, in my black gown. None of you can see me. I do smile, yes you know, but none of you know what it actually looks like. and I press my hands against the glass. It's time for this wall to shatter. If you hold my hand, I'll come with you. If you decide to join me, I'll show you my scars.
