Story behind the song
After a late night in Canada my friend dragged me off to some strip club. On the way out we overheard one of the strippers talking about picking up their kid from somewhere. That incident inspired me to write this song. The girl in the song is noone in particular, but made up of a number of girls I have known in my life. Still, it represents something that happens a lot in the world.

Lyrics
So here we stand again, One nation under God, We tolf ourselves we'd win, And be an example for the rest of the world
But I don't see much good, In murderers and scum, And maybe God will bring, An end to all this senselessness and pain
The story starts with a girl, Her name unknown to anyone even him, The one who knocked her up, To her feelings he could give a fuck
But the pain won't go away, And she wonders where God was that day, But she doesn't know, That it was us and not Him to blame
(chorus) Hold your hands up high, Be glad you're still alive
(chorus #2) Well see life through my eyes, It's a test you'll see in time, But the drugs have swayed your mind, To think this was your life
So now she's lying in a bed, With a man who doesn't give a damn, That her little girl needs food, And her mother just can't see this through
Well she did this for some cash, And she wonders how long she can last, But would you know what to say, To a girl who's lived her life this way?
(chorus) Hold your head up high, Have hope you're still alive, With some faith you can begin your life, It takes some time but girl you gotta try!!
