BoomslangGrrl is a femlae-fronted, acoustic-electric, alternative rock band. Karen Davis rocks the acoustic guitar in a stlye reminiscent of Pete Townshend. Her dark, poetic lyrics cover subjects ranging from violent alienation to love gone awry. Karen uses her powerful voice to fill each tune with maximum conviction and emotion. Even the quiter sections crackle with intensity. She wrote and arranged all the tunes on Boomslang's CD Bloody Tales From the Suburbs. Karen's jack-hammer acoustic guitar style is perfectly complemented by Kevin Hummel's thick melodic bass lines. Her sometimes intricate chord changes and churning rhythms give Kevin plenty room to use his Jack Bruce-influenced bass artistry. Brother John Hummel handles the drums.
