Story behind the song
Author’s remark: the next act is more or less (with some dramatisation of circumstances) re enacting of actual happening. There was a visit of Zdenek (Mlynar) who became a minister in Czechoslovakian government and there was a strain relationship between the new faction in CSR politic headed by Dupchek and the mighty USSR.
Scene one.
It’s year 1957
Prologue is followed by Raisa’s phone call with friend from USSR Politburo Fedor Kulakov to warn Misha and Raisa in case of their visitor.
Misha is now in his best years and in high position, running Stavropol District (size of Main USA)
On the road from the airport Misha and Zdenek (with his known charm and a lot of hair) ,get a little tipsy. On the way to the apartment Misha has a little problem to find
the door lock. and Zdenek is advising him. They sing an old drinking song from youth for Raisa, in foul attempt to smooth the situation, but Raisa is not buying it and reprimand follows. But Raisa softens up seeing her old friend especially when she realises tht Zdenek is pretending being under the influence. They reminiscing the olden days and Raisa tells Zdenek about the warning from Moscow. But Zdenek is bubbling enthusiastically about the new movement of freedom.
The scene ends with our trio pledging love and friendship for ever.
