Being Part of God's Kingdom....right where you are
Artist picture
Someone in my church small group used a phrase that I had never heard before. The phrase started a whole series of events that brought me to writing Christian lyrics. I don’t play any musical instruments, so I am dependant on others to put my thoughts to music. Through my writing, I am learning much about myself. I believe it is drawing me closer to a real, loving God.

Story behind the song
This was my very first attempt at lyric writing. A good friend of mine, Janie Spell used the phrase "Bloom where you're planted" in a church small group I was part of. I thought....that should be a song. I wrote a draft of the lyric and brought it to our small group meeting. Janie's husband, Sterling is a talented musician and leads a Christian band. He wrote the music and his band performed this in rehearsal. This is only a demo...with a bit of hisssss
Lyrics
Bloom Where You’re Planted © James Dickie & Sterling Spell, 2008 V1 People scatter like seeds on the wind Chasing their hopes and dreams There’s no time for family or friends Or make a change it seems How do we heal this suffering world? Hunger and the pain Feed them from thy kingdom come his garden to reclaim 1st Chorus Bloom where you’re planted Don’t you know? Bloom where you’re planted You can grow Bloom where you’re planted You can be the seed of love V2 Plant the seeds of love with love Kindly lend a hand You’ll bare the fruit of God within By trying to be a friend His field could use more flowers Right in your neighborhood Mercy grows where mercy sows Start spreading the word Repeat 1st Chorus 2nd chorus Bloom where you’re planted Right where you live Bloom where you’re planted If you will give Bloom where you’re planted Let the love of Jesus grow 1st chorus Well you cannot be too worried You can’t be everywhere Take a look right around you You can till his garden there His field could use more flowers Right in your neighborhood Mercy grows where mercy sows Start spreading the word 1st & 2nd chorus
