I'M IN THE PROCESS OF FORMING A BAND, and write the following to clarify my intentions, objectives, and musical direction for potential bandmates. Qualities I'm looking for in prospective band members; 1. Dedication to a band, drive to establish a professional career as part of a band, determination to do what it takes to have success in personal and musical endeavors. 2. Connection/understanding of my writing, playing, and vision. 3. Chemistry. Desired instrumentation includes drums, bass, and vocals. I'm open to other instruments, but view these as the essentials. Possibly keys or a second guitar, although I've never really clicked with another guitarist.I view music as my life-work, and am completely devoted to forming a band of capable people who together produce genius. Establishing longstanding musical relations are essential to this project. My objectives are professional regarding the music, and career, of this band. Professional and realistic. PLEASE CLICK MUSIC TO HEAR MY WORK I am a 29 yr old focused, passionate, creator of very original and unique rock oriented music. I started playing guitar at the age of twelve, after hearing the first Zeppelin album. I'm self taught, and have always held that good writing and uniqueness, are my top musical priorities. I believe my strongest attribute as a musician to be writing and arranging. I've always known that's it's my destiny to be in a truly great band, and feel confident in the quality of my writing to serve as a platform for this endeavor. I've spent the last three years in preparation for this band; writing and recording, listening, building a project studio, studying music business, and developing a sound basis for success. At the heart of every great band is great music. Other vital elements include chemistry, passion for the creative craft, and sympathy between members. There must also exist a common artistic endeavor, although it is often one or two members who are the visionaries. Quite often the visionary is the main musical writer as well. This has always been my role, supplying the bulk of raw musical material, while sharing arranging with others in the group. I am a firm believer in a supportive, open environment conducive to creativity. I seek to bring out the best in myself and others when working on music. Some groups start out young, with relatively little experience and find their maturity and identity as they evolve. I have been playing and writing music for most of my life and have a very clear idea of my musical direction. As an extension of this i have a definite vision of the band i want to be involved in. Central to this vision is gathering together individuals who have the same level of commitment, and talent. I wish to assemble a tour de force, in a manner of speaking. I've a great deal of demo's which may provide a starting point for band material. This music can serve as a foundation for a group of great players to strike upon undeniably powerful and unique music. I've always had a vision of what kind of band i want, and the scope of material. With each collaboration of my life, the level of professionalism has increased, the music maturing, and a deeper understanding of what it is i'm doing and why i'm doing it. The band that i envision has much to say, and will say it in an undeniably authentic way. I want to tour and give great performances, write and record great albums and be involved with people who have a great desire to do things as well as they are able. I am a collaborator, and desire to be a part of something much greater than myself. Trends come and go, as do the bands that focus on such things. I want to be involved with a band that is a musical community which strives to create, record, and perform music beyond trend. Music which contains a certain something special which i call the universal element. King Crimson, Vivaldi, The Beatles, and Zeppelin, to name a few, express the universal element which goes much deeper than what is fashionable, trendy, or conformist.
