Acoustic, folk, adult alternative with a touch of alternative country.
In my other life I'm a futures speculator. Since there is plenty of downtime in the business, I sing, play, and write, so I don't obsess about the markets. My music tends to be pensive. That's no doubt influenced by the fact that my instrument of choice is a classic acoustic guitar.

Story behind the song
This is probably the first song I ever wrote. It goes back to Jr. High or early High School. The guitar riff came first: A6sus2 to A, then D6sus2 to D (twice), moving up to the Dmaj7 (on the 5th fret) and the E(Dbass) (on the 4th fret) and finally back to the A6sus2 and A. I thought it was so cool that I had to write a song to go with it. Amazingly, the song stood the test of time.
Lyrics
Bless the Lord (Psalm 103) by James E. Nelson Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits, bless his holy name. He cleansed all of my sins and delivered me from biter ends. He fulfills my desires with good things. He brings justice to the oppressed. He's compassion and graciousness. He witholds our rightful judgement and gives us rest. As for us, we're like the flower of the field. The wind blows, the flower's gone and remembered no more. But the Lord's love is witout end for those who fear him, and who keep the precepts of God's Word. The Lord established his throne in heaven, His kingdom is over all. Alleluia! Bless the Lord, his heavenly host, and all that do his bidding. bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
