How do you capture and understand something that is truly otherworldly? Hauntings exist right in the grey zone between reality and imagination. Often, we hear stories of poor souls, trapped on this Earth, forced to roam in a place that is not for them. These stories captivate, enthrall and frighten us - often at the same time. There are many who would claim that ghosts cannot be real and that there is a logical explanation for any mysterious events. Then there are many who claim to have been haunted by spirits.
What is the truth? Is there truly a flaw in gateway to an afterlife? Or are our imaginations just playing games with us?
Even if we deny the existence of ghosts, souls, or an afterlife, we may still be haunted. Often, our pasts can come back and bite us. An incident where we did not act up to our standard character comes back after some time and forces us to turn back and address the very people we sought to escape. Even other times, seemingly out of nowhere our conscience and brain will team up to torment us. Every horrible memory, every embarrassing moment, every mistake we have made, all are brought back to life and recreated in our own haunted house - the head.
I have found that in times like these, the only way to stop the torment, stop the haunting, is to confront it. You can not fight an idea, nor can you kill a memory. However, you have one powerful tool on your side: The power to reflect and address the issues you are facing. This is how you defeat your haunting.
