The first song I ever wrote, at about age fourteen, so as you can imagine, it is a simple 3 / 4 chord number, with naive lyrics and a rubbish hook… wait a minute, sounds like all the rest of my songs!

Story behind the song
Remember back to being fourteen / fifteen, all that angst, misplaced anger and overwhelming feeling of non-belonging… Well this was the day I realised I could make all that go away by writing music.
Lyrics
Standing on these railroad tracks, apparently my heart is black, From all the love that I have hated and time I have wasted, I am through. Yeah I am the family’s black sheep, why do you treat me like that. I never say the right things, and, you are always on my back, When I walk in your footsteps, I just fall, That is when I realise; I am not wanted here at all. I’m all alone in a crowded room, these people talking is making my head spin, I feel my insides coming out; maybe my life is just a waste of space? Yeah I am the family’s black sheep, why do you treat me like that. I never say the right things, and, you are always on my back, When I walk in your footsteps, I just fall, That is when I realise; I am not wanted here at all. So, I’m sitting here, sober and queer, wondering what’s up in my life? I am fucked with junk, and it is all in vane, because everybody thinks that I am insane. Yeah I am the family’s black sheep, why do you treat me like that. I never say the right things, and, you are always on my back, When I walk in your footsteps, I just fall, That is when I realise; I am not wanted here at all.
