Story behind the song
Willie is our long haired mini dachshund. Small, but 100% hound dog. When one of our other dogs came into heat and Willie had not yet been neutered, it was a terrible thing. Willie was so horny he all but died, no lie. Couldn't sleep, peein' on everything, couldn't eat without puking, and sometimes he would let out this long mournful howl... I felt the least i could do was to write a blues for him. This is that tale... Brother Bill on the hot lead guitar work
Lyrics
WELL I GOTS ME A LITTLE DOG AND HE DON'T DO NOTHIN' WRONG (X2) HE MAY NOT BE THE BIGGEST, BUT LORD, HE SURE IS LONG WELL MY HOUND DOG'S NAME IS WILLIE, AND HE'S ALWAYS GOT THE ITCH (X2) WHEN HE SMELLS SOMEONE WILLIN', YA KNOW HE GONNA FIND THE b*** :-)) SOMETIMES, IN THE NIGHTIME, IS WHEN YOU GET THE NEWS (X2) WHEN WILLIE GOES TO HOWLIN'...OL' WILLIE'S GOT THE BLUES

Poor ol'Willie, who would think of writing a song about that, it's great, let's write about the realities of everyday life instead of all this airy fairy sh** ,the urge to procreate is the most powerful force in nature, because life just wants to be, from the largest creature to the smallest microbe, you can't get a bigger or more basic subject than that,we had the same problem with our dog Jeff,he deserved a song too but the only person on the planet to write a song about a painfully horny dog lives up there in N.Y. state.Strip it down to the slow sleazy blues you've presented here and we have an atmospheric blues raunch that captures the subject matter perfectly and contains some of your best lead guitar with a wicked tone and if Willy could speak English he'd know you understood how he felt.

Keeping that slooow beat is tough! And you do it well Charlie! Some powerful guitar in here - and you're singin' with a sad, sad blues feeling - well done! Willie should be proud of his papa ;^)) Cheers, Bob

Jolee is right about your voice for blues PD. Poor old Willie. Sounds like me on a bad Friday night. You're really getting into this one Charley. Love the lead breaks.... fingers flying, and lovely phrasing. Keep 'em coming. Cheers Brian
