Song is about two people who argue and fight through the years and stay apart only to really want to be together other than maybe for their own selfish reasons and they both realize that 'they could never mistake the other for anything wrong'.
The guy in the song dies at the end and the last verse is from her point of view and I think she realizes that maybe she bitched too much or just still wants him to be alive, who knows.....
