Story behind the song
A friend of my brother dropped by with some country lyrics one night. I read them, said these are too angry for country. So we used this music.
Actually, the music was (is?) also used by a radio show as their intro and return from commercials. The show is about NASCar.
We did the recording in a single night. I put the guitar solo on, but have heard nothing but complaints about it. I was looking to experiment with a middle eastern sounding scale. I will one day go back and re-write.
During the recording session, we played with a number of variation on the chorus. In frustration with how it was going, he dropped the F bomb and I refused to let him take it out.
I've met the girl it was written for, and although I've never dated her, I think they fit perfectly.
I'm playing all the instruments on the song and sequenced the drums. The guitar is a 1987 PRS electric played through a Mesa Boogie 50 cal. amp. The Solo was the same guitar played through a Line 6 Pod.
The bass is a Fender Squire Percision, played through a Mackie mixer. The drums are sequenced and played through a Roland 1080 synth module.
