no one else you've ever heard, original West coast beats type feel Dr. Dre influence southern Rapper with "Em/Ludacris" influence not like the rest dark feel, h
Originally I was born in a small one stoplight town of Keene Troy on a farm with wood burning stoves and no electricity, we lived on a tobacco farm out in the country. We had a barn, a pond, and a screened in porch, my dog used to break chickens necks and leave them on our back porch, we occasionally had to kill cow-snakes in the bar which could range from 6ft to 9ft in length. I moved to Nashville when I was six my father got a job at a glass company that my grandfather started in 1956. My mom was a physical Therapist for 36 years. She did home health care, she went into projects most people wouldnât dare go into not even police, like J.C. Napier. I have an older brother Chase Martin who is currently a year and one half older heâs a super- producer know as âœThe Surgeonâ. I have a twin brother who is one minute older than me named Chandler Martin, so I grew up with two older brothers. My life drastically changed when I went to middle school located in the projects of east Nashville at Meigs, itâs not to sound tough itâs part of my story. I was separated from my other two brothers on educational and social levels. In high-school, I attended Overton High School but was thrown out for drugs and fighting. I was banned from Davidson County for 2 years. I was separated again and lived with my grandmother until I completed high-school. I continued to Columbia State Community college and it progressed my education. I jumped in a family owned business for about 5 years, Iâve owned my own house on the Percy Priest Lake, hence âœfrom the Lakeâ part of my name. I have flat-lined three times in my life and it took me every one of them to change. Iâve had my main artery cut completely in half with a utility knife and almost bled to death. Iâve been smashed by a car at 38 mph in between a stone wall and another car it snapped my right leg in half. So my right leg from my knee to my ankle has a titanium rod in it, some pins and screws, Iâve lost a house before, and all of my worldly material possessions. Iâve done the drug thing it took me down with King Alcohol lol. Iâve done a lot of the wrong things to learn the right things so it was by way of consequence rather than virtue. My father passed away in 2001 and I completely went down the hill. For six years I couldnât accept that. It took a lot of courage to change and get off drugs and alcohol and to stop living the way I was living. I had reached a point where I was pulling weapons on people and at points myself. The most courageous animal I knew was a Lion so I would have to be a Lion to be pulled out of the clenching hands of despair and be put back on track. I also know that my name Lion, the acronym for it means hero!!! My role is to be a bridge between the new and old school rappers, and set an example of the right track because from personal experience I know what isnât the right way. So my role in the industry is to help others , do as much stuff with as many people as I can and reach out and help kids today who had no leadership in their lives. I fully intend to help a lot of kids who would not otherwise have a chance. Iâve been suicidal and homicidal every day before and if one kid doesnât have to go through that Iâm in!!! yeah I got a couple tattooâs lol, and a few scars, but Iâve been pieced back together and now Iâm working with some Legendary people that are my heroâs I grew up listening to. I own multiple businesses now, and wouldnât rather be doing anything else that what I am. âœGet a circle of friends you can trust, youâll need themâ - Colin Martin AKA âœLion from the Lakeâ- I work with siccmade people and Aftermath people they canât debate thatâ.
