Overall, has about 30-40 piano compositions that he would like to turn into songs. Major influences include Elton John, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Phil Collins. Writes and performs jazz and pop compositions for piano. Currently looking for gigs to perform his piano works and piano standards. Also trying to find a lyricist collaborator who could write good quality lyrics to his melodies. Some of his melodies are on par with the best PaulMacCartney - Elton John - Billy Joel hits. Story behind the song
"Safe Haven" is a very interesting piece that has a very long history. It was originally composed on commission for a special concert held at Pushkin school of music I believe - in 1990, something like that, a special concert dedicated to the 300 anniversary since Columbus discovery of America. Initially it had completely different lyrics. In 1994 I hooked up with Bob Hiddema of Kalamazoo, Michigan and he wrote the new English version of the song called "Safe Haven". We produced a demo at his home studio on the 8 track machine. The drums part was added in Atlanta, Georgia by Bob's friend - Frank Austin. In 1995 my song became the semi-finalist in the country category at a songwriting contest in Atlanta, Georgia and - the most important - in 1995 I received a very positive response on this song from MCA corporation in New York. About 25 copies with "Safe Haven" demo were produced; some of those copies I gave to my friends, some were sent to different music labels. Bob for some stupid reason destroyed the original 8 track version but, I was lucky enough to find just one last remaining cassette tape with the original demo which I transferred into digital and this is how the original "Safe Haven" version was saved. On this tape - I play the piano, Bob Hiddema plays the base guitar and sings, the drums and steel guitar parts were added later on. Enjoy.
